Helping Los Angeles Communities And The Animals That Inhabit Them

Animal Rescue
Last Chance Animal Rescue operates in Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The ARL reserves the right to deny any foster or adoption. Our foster families arrive to take their dogs home at 1:00. The Houston SPCA is the only agency providing injured animal rescue ambulance service 24-hours a day, every day of the year. The majority of pets live in foster care, so if you see please contact my foster at…” then you can reach out to the animal’s caretaker for more information.

Your donations help us provide quality care and training of companion animals, and to promote responsible pet ownership while uniting fellow rescuers in the pursuit of ending animal homelessness. The good thing about adopting a pet through an animal shelter or rescue group is that you’ll know exactly what you’re getting.

An animal whose owner claims it during the holding period will not be made available for adoption. When you adopt a pet from a shelter or other rescue organization, you save lives. Some animal shelters can look after the animals for the rest of their lives, without looking for someone to take them in their home.

Animal Services Centers

Animals also have rights of their own and animal activists try to make sure that people follow these rights. We also have a first-time subscriber special offer — we’ll vaccinate a shelter animal if you are new to our family of websites. Last year we rescued over 3,100 animals from immediate danger and distress, and our ambulances logged over 120,000 miles saving the innocent.

IF you find a pet offered through an animal shelter, you will be asked to sign a contract saying that you agree to care for the pet long term. Shelters and rescue groups do charge a fee, but it’s relatively inexpensive compared to the service they provide. When we first started our rescue, one of our goals was to make our adoption process an easy and enjoyable experience.

No one wants to see dogs euthanized alone, without loving owners to memorialize them with pet urns or pet head stones, so these rescues are highly valued within the pet community. In addition, some of these groups take animals that live in kill shelters or as strays living on the streets.

Detroit Dog Rescue is Detroit’s first and ONLY no-kill shelter. Most of the animals are adopted out of foster homes. That fee will be reduced by $50 for dogs and $40 for cats if the dog or cat was already sterilized before arriving at our animal care center. The Director of Animal Welfare program was part of her proposal to make Los Angeles a No-Kill City.

Woodward feels “the Katrina Disaster showed us the best and worst,” and she hopes that Los Angelenos will learn from it and be prepared – for themselves and for their animals. The first IP to arrive at the animal care center (at Early Opening) the day the animal becomes available will be allowed to adopt the animal.

Animal Rescue
We are excited to introduce our rescue animals currently seeking forever homes! If you’re in the market for a dog or cat, you’ll find all shapes, sizes and ages at an animal shelter. Our friendly adoption staff will work with you to find the right dog, cat, small pet or barn pet for your home. We specialize in matching breeds that are hard to place due to discrimination and labeling with progressive shelters and rescues willing to take on the challenge of taking in these ‘at risk’ dogs and giving them what they need to succeed.

Currently evidence animals are held in specials areas of the shelter where they can not be seen by the general public and therefore do not have a chance of being adopted. Many of these animals are scared because of mistreatment and abusive the staff at the centers makes sure they calm the dogs down before attempting to clean or wash the dog.
Since MARS does not have a shelter facility, all of our dogs need caring, committed and qualified people to house them and help them take the next steps in their lives.
